About the artist
It has always been me, a pencil and a piece of paper. I remember myself at the age of 5, drawing princesses for my very first friends in kindergarden. A few years later, I expressed my creativity painting pictures for a school newspaper and sketching fantasy creatures on the back pages of my math notebook.
When I was 13, my parents decided to take my love of art seriously and enrolled me into a children's school of Fine Arts. Looking back, I can say this was the moment I chose visual arts as my future profession. After 3 years of studying art history, as well as, different techniques of classic drawing and painting, I entered the college of Fine Arts, dreaming of becoming a famous artist.
However, life always corrects our plans. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 90s, the economic and political situation in my hometown Odessa (Ukraine) was unstable and my family decided to move to Israel. Many things changed in my life, but not my love of art. It still was me, a pencil and a piece of paper. After graduation from the college of Graphic Design (Haifa, Israel), I started my career as an illustrator and graphic designer. I have illustrated more than 15 children's books and educational programs for kids. In addition, I have worked as a graphic designer for advertising agencies and magazines.
In 2006 I made Winnipeg my home. I fell in love with this city - with its streets, its parks and even with its cold winters... Currently, I work as a graphic designer for a leading Winnipeg publishing company. I create my artwork, inspired by the beautiful world around me.
And as always it is me, a pencil and a piece of paper... |
